Bill Belichickwho ended an era with the New England Patriots a few weeks ago, after directing them for 24 years and winning six Super Bowls, this Sunday He dedicated an emotional letter to the team’s fans to thank them for their support.

It was through a page in the Boston Globe where the former coach showed his affection to the fans.

“Nowhere in America are fans as passionate as in New England, for 24 years I was lucky to feel his passion and power. The Patriots are the only NFL team to represent six states, but in reality Patriots nation knows no borders“wrote the head coach.

Belichick, 71, will not coach in the NFL for the first time after 24 consecutive seasons at the helm of the Pats, a team he made the most winning team in the league, along with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with six wins in the nine Super Bowls. that disputed

“You were undeterred by the weather, you attended training in scorching heat, you braved the coldest, snowiest and windiest days in Foxborough. You traveled from coast to coast. On numerous occasions you were the last fan standing. We loved it! You gave your valuable time and energy to our team“, he pointed out.

On January 11, Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, and the veteran coach reached an agreement to end their relationship.

Belichick led the Pats to nine AFC championships, 17 Eastern division titles, 11 of them consecutive, an NFL record, and six Super Bowls.

His successes led him to be the third coach with the most wins for the same franchise in the history of the NFL with 302, only below Hall of Famers Don Shula, 328, and George Halas, 318.

In his time in New England, the coach distinguished himself for his energetic way of directing, his grumpy and ironic character in front of the media and his limited contact with the fans to whom he dedicated this heartfelt farewell letter.

“Six times you filled Boston by the millions for parades that were truly an expression of gratitude and love. Maybe you even enjoyed my press conferences or maybe you just tolerated them. I loved training here, together we lived incredible moments. Thank you all“concluded the head coach.
