Since it hasn’t happened for a long time, Miguel Herrera’s ability as a strategist has begun to generate suspicions at the head of the Xolos de Tijuana, by virtue of the fact that after the recent defeat at Pachuca’s home in the activity of day five of the Clausura 2024 tournament, they added their eighth game in a row without being able to win and what is more serious, they have barely registered eight victories in their last 35 games directed in the three most recent tournaments Clausura 2024, Apertura 2023 and Clausura 2023 of the MX League.
Numbers that go out of the successful context of the strategist he has directed and obtained two titles with América, in recent times, but at the head of the border squad they seem to have forgotten him, since he has not won since November 1, 2023 on date 15 of the Apertura tournament of that year when he won 2 -0 to the UANL Tigers.
That is to say, the former coach of the National Team in the 2014 World Cup has not won in the last two games of the last championship against América against whom they lost 3-0 on matchday 16 and with Pachuca on matchday 17.
Nor in the five matches they have played in the current Clausura 2014 competition, as demonstrated by the defeat with América 0-2 on the first date, a draw with Atlas 0-0 on date two.
As well as the 1-1 with Chivas on date 3 and the last two defeats with Cruz Azul 1-0 on date 4 and against Pachuca on date five 3-2.
But the most serious thing is that his team has only managed to score six goals in this same number of games played, which further aggravates the situation that the experienced coach is going through in command of the Xolos de Tijuana.
Negative numbers
His situation becomes much more aggravated if in the same context we include the fact that in the last 35 matches coached, he has only managed to add eight wins, seven draws and 20 losses.
The only eight wins they have in the last three tournaments are against Tigres 2-0, Atlas 2-0, Atlético de San Luis 2-1, FC Juárez 5-1, Toluca 2-1 and Cruz Azul 2-1 in the Apertura 2023,
While in the Clausura 2023 against Pachuca 2-0 and Mazatlán 2-1, since in the current Clausura 2024 they remain blank in this area, which indicates the seriousness of the matter in the outlook of the current strategist of the border dogs.
So for Miguel Herrera the horizon looks very bleak, especially with a team that seems to have lost confidence in its football style, as demonstrated by the coldness of the numbers.
