Some days ago Kanye West posted on his account instagram a long message in which he apologized to the Jewish community for the anti-Semitic comments he has made since 2022. Now, The Anti-Defamation League (an organization in the United States in charge of stopping expressions of hatred against the Jewish people) has made its response public.

In a statement, representatives of that union expressed the following: “After causing incalculable damage by using its vast influence and platform to poison countless minds with ruthless anti-Semitism and hatred, An apology in Hebrew can be the first step in a long journey toward reparation for the Jewish community and all those he (Kanye West) has hurt. As a last resort, “Actions will speak louder than words, but this initial act of contrition is welcome.”

Additionally, a spokesperson for the American Jewish Congress criticized that the rapper has shared a message on his social networks in Hebrew and not in English, thus avoiding further exposure of his apology to American and other Jews: “Beyond being strange and possibly a strategy to gain more attention, the Hebrew apology – published without translation – is inaccessible to the majority of American Jews who They don’t speak the language. Although he states that he is committed to learning and greater understanding, “This apology speaks to “any pain he may have caused,” rather than acknowledging the pain he has caused.”

West’s message – translated into Spanish – expresses his apology and his commitment to take a different attitude from that moment on: “I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any involuntary outburst caused by my words or actions. It was not my intention to hurt or disrespect you, and I am deeply sorry for any pain it may have caused. I commit to starting with myself and learning from this experience. to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. “Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting greater unity.”

Kanye West He has not only made headlines in recent days for these messages, but also for the announcement of the release of his next album Vultures Vol. 1in collaboration with the rapper Ty Dolla $ign. After several delays in its release, the album will finally be available on the main digital platforms on January 12, 2024.
