The Covered California registration period for 2024 ends on December 31

More than 160,000 California residents applied to Covered California to have health coverage starting in January 2024; and if you are interested, There is still time, because the deadline expires on December 31.

The agency reported that 161,670 people completed the procedure to apply for health coverage during this open enrollment stage, which represents an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2022in addition to being the highest number during the same period in four years.

The new enrollees join Californians who have renewed their health coverage so far, a figure that so far it amounts to 1,571,559 residents.

In 2024, the largest financial aid ever offered

By 2024, Covered California announced that will offer more financial help than ever before to Californians.

Based on federal subsidies to help pay health insurance premiums, Covered California offers a program that will reduce the cost of access to health care for consumers by reducing out-of-pocket costs when seeking care, including eliminating deductibles in the three Silver cost-sharing reduction plans.

The new out-of-pocket cost reduction program will be available to Californians with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty levelThat is, $33,975 dollars for single members and $69,375 dollars for families with four members.

At the moment, 650,000 Covered California enrollees are eligible for this programand more than 70,000 new members have benefited from these cost savings and increased benefits.

Nearly 90% of the more than 1.6 million Covered California enrollees get financial help, and currently two-thirds of enrollees can qualify for health insurance for $10 or less per month, and almost half could get a Silver plan for that price.
