San Bernardino Police Shoot and Kill a Woman Who Was Pointing a Gun at a 3-Year-Old Boy

A woman who pointed a gun at a 3-year-old boy was shot dead this Sunday in a confrontation with officers from the San Bernardino Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 8:00 a.m. to an apartment building in the 200 block of East 21st Street, where there were a 35-year-old woman armed and who had locked herself in a room with a minor.

The call was made by a person to inform the authorities that the woman was inside an apartment and that she was pointing a gun at the head of her 3-year-old grandson. The woman was not related to the minor and according to the person said he had already fired the gun at least once.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman, who was “very distressed,” standing on a balcony. while pointing a gun at both the person who made the phone call like a policeman.

Moments later, the suspect entered the apartment where the child was and locked the door.

With a kick, the agents broke down the door and They observed the woman standing on a bed and pointing the gun at the childwho was under her and crying.

At one point, one of the officers shot at the woman and injured her, but the suspect continued to hold the gun. The police officers ordered her to drop the gun, an instruction which she allegedly refused to obey and, instead, she turned it on the boy once again.

The officers shot the woman again, who This time she was fatally hit by bullets..

While some officers took the minor out of the apartment, other police officers began to give first aid to the suspect, but died at the scene of the confrontation.

The boy was not injured during the confrontation and He was handed over to his relatives who were outside the apartment.the police said.

Police officials said that They could not negotiate with the suspect because the little boy’s life was in imminent danger.

“The gun was pointed directly to the child’s head and we couldn’t waste too much time negotiating and risking the child’s safety. The officer’s actions saved the child’s life,” said Lt. Jennifer Kohrell of the San Bernardino police.

The suspect was identified as Darvet Brown, 35, of San Bernardino.

According to Lieutenant Kohrell, Brown She was a friend of the woman who lived in the apartment.she was staying there at the time, although she was not related to the little boy, and it is unknown at the moment what the reason for her behavior was.

The woman who made the call to authorities later told Fox that she, her husband and her grandson had been taken hostage by the suspect and with the danger of being shot to death.

As best she could, the woman ran away. and asked police for help after the suspect had separated the family into different rooms.

She mentioned that the suspect was a friend who was spending the night at the apartment, but at the time the incident occurred was experiencing some type of mental health.
