Club América lost a historic streak at the Azteca Stadium with a loss to San Luis

America qualified for the final of the Liga MX, despite the 2-0 defeat and a historic streak of almost 20 games fell without losing at home.

The Águilas lost a streak of 19 consecutive games at the Azteca Stadium. Furthermore, they had not lost at home for five months.

The last time the Águilas del América lost in Mexican soccer was against FC Juárez 2-1 on matchday 1 of Apertura 2023.

During that streak, América scored up to 45 goals and only received 15 goals from their rivals.

To the clubs he defeated: Puebla, Necaxa, Cruz Azul, Chivas, Querétaro, Pumas, Pachuca, Mazatlán, Santos, Monterrey, Atlético de San Luis (2), Tijuana and León, in addition to drawing against Atlas, León, Toluca, Tigres and León.

The Águilas del América of Brazilian coach Andre Jardine were defeated this Saturday 0-2 by San Luis, but they qualified for the final of the Mexican soccer Apertura, by winning the semifinal series 5-2.

After losing the first leg 0-5, San Luis gave their rival a dance at their home, the Azteca Stadium, and confirmed it on the scoreboard, with two goals from Ángel Zaldívar.

In the first half, Brazilian coach Gustavo Da Silva’s San Luis team showed a different face than in the first leg last Wednesday.

The Brazilian Rodrigo Dourado arrived at the area with danger in the seventh minute and was close to violating the Águilas. but he was stopped by goalkeeper Luis Malagón, the home team’s best player in the first 45 minutes.

Malagón saved at least two clear shots on goal; in the 10th minute by Dieter Villalpando and by the Uruguayan Juan Manuel Sanabria, in the 45th.

In the final, the Águilas de Jardine will seek their fourteenth title against the best among the Tigres UANL of Uruguayan coach Robert Siboldi, defending champions, and the Pumas UNAM of Argentine strategist Antonio Mohamed.

With a goal from Jesús Angulo, last Thursday Tigres defeated the Pumas 0-1 and this Sunday they will have everything in their favor in their stadium in Monterrey because they will qualify if they win, draw or lose by one goal.
