Kevin McCarthy, former president of the House of Representatives, supported Donald Trump, whom he trusts can achieve the Republican nomination, but also agrees to be willing to be part of his cabinet if invited.

The Californian politician, who in October became the first impeached president in the history of the House of Representatives, announced four days ago his resignation as a member of Congress.

However, during the preview of an interview that is about to be broadcast on CBS Sunday Morning seems to have returned to the fray, well After several months of being reluctant to state his position on Donald Trump’s campaign, he said he supported his aspiration to return to the White House. and he even accepts that, if he invites him after he wins the presidential elections next year, he would be willing to work in his administration again.

“I will support President Trump. We work together to win the majority, but we also have a relationship where we are very honest with each other. “I worked with President Trump on many policies,” express.

During much of his time at the head of the White House, the Californian politician openly supported the New York tycoon and even went so far as to support his hypothesis that the 2020 elections had been stolen from him.

However, in the wake of the insurrection generated by a group of people at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, McCarthy distanced himself from Trump. to the point of declaring in the House of Representatives that the former president “was responsible and did not stop the mob of rioters.”

Now, even though he seems to raise his hand to be taken into account by the 77-year-old Republican, he must first wait to see if he manages to win his party’s nomination. and if he can shake off the accusations that could marginalize him from participating in next year’s elections.

In addition, before him, at least another half dozen Republicans presumably closer to Donald Trump take priority. such as: Sarah Huckabee Sanders, governor of Arkansas; Kristi Lynn Noem, Governor of South Dakota; Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.; JD Vance, R-Ohio; Byron Donalds, R-Fla.; and even Kari Lake, currently a Republican candidate to represent Arizona in the Senate.
