Nevada Attorney General Investigates Fake Voter Scheme for Trump in 2020 Election

The attorney general of SnowfallAaron Ford, is investigating state Republican electors who submitted false election certificates declaring donald trump as winner of the 2020 presidential election In this state.

After the November 2020 election, six Republican electors gathered outside the Nevada Legislature on a cold December day to sign election certificates awarding the state’s electoral votes to Trump, even though Joe Biden won that state. by more than 30,000 votes, and sent those documents to the National Archives, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

That day, Nevada’s true electors cast their electoral college votes remotely, chaired by then-Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, who gave Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the six votes.

The use of fake electors during the 2020 election for Trump has also been investigated in other states.

Politico first reported on the Nevada attorney general’s investigation.

Some of the fake electors in Nevada were provided limited immunity in exchange for testimony before a federal grand jury in the investigation into Trump and others that led to charges against the former president in Washington, D.C. for attempting to subvert the outcome of the election. 2020, according to CNN.

Trump has denied wrongdoing.

Those electors had declined to answer questions in other settings, such as before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol, citing their Fifth Amendment protections.

In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged several people involved in the plot to field fake electors in that state, along with Trump.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel in July charged more than a dozen people who acted as false voters.

And Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has launched an investigation into the fake voter scheme there.

False voters in Georgia and Michigan already face criminal charges and an investigation is underway in Arizona.
