Screens: What to see in theaters and streaming the weekend of November 17 to 19

Justin Timberlake and NSYCN reunited to write a song for “Trolls Band Together“, which opens in theaters today. For horror lovers, there is life after Halloween: “Thankgiving” can also be scary. “Rustin” is perhaps the most important figure in the civil rights struggle that you had not heard of. “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived” is the moving story of the stuntman who played Harry Potter in dangerous scenes. And if the previous options don’t convince you, you can always get hooked on “The Crown” now that the sixth and final season begins.

These are our recommendations for this weekend:

“Trolls Band Together” managed to reunite NSYNC

Third installment of the successful Trolls animation franchise with new songs, characters and more psychedelic, but with Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick once again voicing the protagonists, Poppy and Branch, who are now finally officially a couple. But Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past: as a baby he was a member of the very successful boys band BroZone along with his four older brothers whom he has not seen for years: Floyd (Troye Sivan), John Dory (Eric André), Spruce (Daveed Diggs) and Clay (Kid Cudi).

When Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talent by two fraudulent pop stars, Velvet (Amy Schumer) and Veneer (Tony Andrew Rannells), Branch and Poppy set out on a journey to reunite the rest of the siblings and rescue Floyd. Along the way they will meet Viva (Camila Cabello), the sister that Poppy didn’t know she had.

“Trolls Band Together” is just as fun and light-hearted as the two previous films from 2016 and 2020, with the music now paying homage to the boy band phenomenon. Timberlake, who managed to reunite NSYNC for one of the songs in the film, has already made it clear that, if it’s up to him, many more will be made.

“Thanksgiving”: terror is not just for Halloween

Halloween has passed, but there is no shortage of a terrifying premiere in theaters with Patrick Dempsey as the protagonist. After Black Friday ends in tragedy, a Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts, birthplace of the Thanksgiving tradition. What begins as random murders of community members is soon revealed to be part of a larger, more sinister holiday plan. Will the town be able to discover the murderer and survive the festivities?

“Rustin”, the forgotten civil rights heroes

Along with names like Martin Luther King Jr., Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Ella Baker, Bayard Rustin was one of the key men of the civil rights movement in the United States when he organized the March on Washington in 1963, but he later fell into oblivion. This film that Netflix premieres today with Colman Domingo in the role of Rustin brings us closer to the figure of the defiant activist who never asked for forgiveness for being the way he was, for his beliefs or for his sexual orientation.

“David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived”: the story of the Harry Potter specialist

The British David Holmes was a teenage gymnast when he was chosen to voice Daniel Radcliffe in the dangerous scenes of the first Harry Potter film. Over the next 10 years, a close friendship was created between them, but in the penultimate film of the saga, Holmes suffered an accident that left him paralyzed. This HBO documentary captures the subsequent relationship between the two and the extraordinary spirit of Holmes as a source of inspiration and strength for Radcliffe. Available now in Max.
