It was through the “X” account, formerly called Twitter, of Antonio Attolini Murra, a member of the Mexican Morena party, whose maximum representative is AMLO, current president of the country, that the former player of the Galaxy on video declaring himself a fan of Claudia Sheinbaum, former governor of Mexico City and current candidate of the party for the presidency of the country.
“Hello, my dearest Dr. Claudia, I am Giovani dos Santos, your friend and admirer. I wanted to send you this video with a big hug and greeting, tell you thatI am very proud that she is going to be the first president of my beloved Mexico.tell you that you have my support and I hope to accompany you to some event soon.”, the midfielder is seen saying.
The clip immediately went viral when it was shared by other militants and followers of the party; However, among voters who responded to the message it was not very well received, as they quickly assumed that it was paid proselytism.
With phrases like: “How strange! A footballer campaigning for a politician. How much would the check have been?”, “I thought I had made a lot of money. If I really loved Mexico, I wouldn’t do this” and “what an expensive and unnecessary message, Are they supposed to attract more supporters with this?” Internet users hinted that it had been sold.
So far, the footballer has not spoken out again to respond to his followers and detractors, nor to talk about a possible return to the fields.
