AMLO accepts the resignation of Arturo Zaldívar as minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accepted the resignation of Arturo Zaldívar as minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation of Mexico.

“He presented his resignation and today I sent the letter. Yes, I accept it and send the letter to the Senate, which is responsible for deciding whether it is accepted,” he said.

From your morning conference, López Obrador reported that he will send a shortlist to the Mexican Senate on the proposals to replace Arturo Zaldívar.

“I already accepted it (the resignation) and it remains for the Senate to approve it. After that, if they approve it, I’m going to send a shortlist for the replacement, then I’m going to start seeing who I propose, to see if I’m lucky and hit the mark, because I’ve proposed four and two came out ‘conservas’ (conservatives). ),” he commented.

It was this Tuesday, November 7, that the former president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico, Arturo Zaldívar, sent a letter to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador where he submitted his resignation as minister after holding the position for almost 14 years.

“The present day I have presented my resignation to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the position of Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, so that, if he accepts it, it will be sent to the Senate of the Republic for approval,” Zaldívar said through his social networks.

Zaldívar, who was president of the Supreme Court from 2019 to 2022 and was due to conclude his term in December 2024, said that he would join the consolidation of the transformation of a more just and equal Mexico.

“Touch now continue serving my country in consolidating the transformation of a fairer Mexico and more egalitarian, in which those who have the least and need it most are a priority,” Zaldívar wrote.

Hours later, the candidate for the presidency of Mexico from the National Regeneration Movement party, Morena, Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she agreed with Zaldívar to work together for the transformation of Mexico.

“I met with Arturo Zaldívar (@ArturoZaldivarL) and we agreed to work together to advance the transformation of the country,” said Claudia Sheinbaum on her X social network account.

Arturo Zaldívar’s resignation is the second that has occurred in the Supreme Court of Mexico after Eduardo Medina Mora did the same in October 2029 when arguing personal reasons.
