Police officer who breastfed hungry baby during work in Acapulco after Hurricane Otis is promoted

As part of the relief efforts for the population affected by Hurricane “Otis”, police officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City, have participated in different activities to help the citizens of Acapulco, however, The actions carried out by officer Arizbeth Ambrosio moved everyone and she soon received a reward.

According to official information, the policewoman appeared in various videos and photographs on social networks breastfeeding a baby who had not been fed for two days after the devastating hurricane Otis passed through Acapulco, so She was promoted in a ceremony in the capital Mexico City.

According to statements by Arizbeth Ambrosio, “I heard the baby crying. It caught my attention and I turned to look at it.… I did not hesitate to approach the people the little boy was with, asking if he was okay, because I heard him a little uneasy.”

“The lady told me ‘Yes, possibly he’s hungry.’ And without hesitation I told him that, if he would allow me, I was breastfeeding my baby and I could give him some breast milk. It was a very nice moment. There were several emotions. “She was breastfeeding a baby I don’t know and I was thinking about mine, from whom I was far away.”the police said.

Ambrosio traveled to Acapulco to be part of the emergency work, after the hurricane made landfall, which went from category 1 to 5 on October 25 in record time and has left 48 deaths and 48 missing so far.

Her actions did not go unnoticed and soon the images showing her breastfeeding the baby went viral and this Monday the head of the SSC, Pablo Vázquez, announced that she had been promoted for this work in Acapulco.

“His work is an example of humanism for everyone,” said Vázquez.

Almost two weeks after the scourge of Otis, which made landfall on October 25 in the Pacific, where it broke the intensification record for a cyclone in Mexico, the search and recovery efforts for people continue in Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez, the cities most impacted and that have issued emergency declarations due to natural disasters.
