The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, extended this Sunday (11/05/2023) an invitation to former president of the United States, Donald Trump, to visit his country and closely observe the war with Russia, while pointing out that the former president “cannot resolve” the conflictas the Republican has declared on numerous occasions.

Zelensky made these statements during an interview with the American network NBC. aired this Sunday, in which he responded to Trump’s claims that he could end the war with Russia within 24 hours. “The former president mentioned that in about 24 hours he could manage and end the war. What can I say about it? I welcome him to come,” Zelensky said.

In this regard, he stated that he would only need “24 minutes”, instead of 24 hours, to explain to Trump that “he can’t solve this war” as easily as he thinks. Zelensky considered that, even if Trump tried, peace is not possible right now due to the position of the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. “He cannot bring peace because of Putin,” he remarked.

He asked for more help

Zelensky also called on Washington to provide more military aid to Ukrainian forces and warned that if Russia is not stopped now, American soldiers could be sent to fight a larger-scale war in Europe in the future. “If Russia kills all of us, she will attack NATO countries and you will send your sons” to fight, he noted.

Biden has pressured the US Congress to approve supplemental spending for 106 billion dollars, which would be used mainly to reinforce Ukraine’s defenses, in addition to supporting Israel and allies in the Indo-Pacific. Republicans, on the other hand, have pushed their own plan, which consists of $14.3 billion to help Israel, but not Ukraine.
