After countless debates and headlines about Victor Wembanyama, the French prodigy gave away This Thursday his first great recital in the NBA with 38 points in the resounding victory of the San Antonio Spurs by 121-132 against the Phoenix Suns of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Wembanyama, who far surpassed his best score so far in the league (21 points against the Houston Rockets), He was a constant headache for the Suns, unable to stop the ‘unicorn’ even in the paint, where he did practically whatever he wanted.

The number one in the last draft, 19 years old, finished his fascinating performance with 15 of 26 shooting (3 of 6 in triples), 10 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 2 blocks in 34 minutes on the track and left numerous details of an unusual generational talent.

Since the NBA counted blocks (1973-1974), only two players under 20 years had achieved more than 35 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks in a game: LeBron James (2004) and Kevin Durant (2008).

With those spectacular numbers, ‘Wemby’ took the lead in the great night for the Spurs (3-2), who had five other players above 10 points.

On the other hand, the Suns, in which Booker returned after his injury, stumbled again against the Spurs, who came back against them just two days ago (114-115) in a game in which the locals managed to win by 20 points.

This time the situation was the opposite, since Phoenix was trailing from the start, but ended the same way with a defeat for the Suns (2-3) still without Bradley Beal and with many pieces to fit, especially in defense.

Booker was one step away from the triple-double (31 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists) and Durant had 28 points and 6 rebounds.

Whether it was Booker or Eric Gordon who ended up paired with him, they could do nothing against the balls hanging from the sky that only Wembanyama could bring down.

With 13 points in the second period and 20 in total in the first half, Wembanyama, seemed in some sections absolutely unstoppable.
