Liverpool technical assistant, Pepijn Lijnders, expressed his support for the Colombian player Luis Díaz for the kidnapping of his father last weekend in La Guajira, Colombia.

Lijnders assured that the entire institution has been in contact with the player and that they have made it clear to him that he has the support of the English institution. He also commented that his colleagues have shown him all the love possible and have given him his support.

“Lucho is one of us. Showing the shirt was a nice gesture. He knows we are here for him. The reaction from the stadium was also special: all the fans are behind him. Our motto is ‘You will never walk alone,’” the assistant coach said.

Luis Manuel Díaz, father of Luis Díaz, has been four days since he was kidnapped and several police teams together with specialized Colombian tracking commands have deployed several teams in the kidnapping area.

Liverpool’s next match will be for the round of 16 in the League Cup against the Bournemouth squad. At the moment it is unknown if Luis Diaz will be part of the call for this meeting.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp told his player he could retire to be with his family Last Saturday, the news of his parents was barely known and his teammates paid tribute to their partner.

After the meeting, The coach commented that all the members of the team called Luis to talk to him and give him their support. Luis Díaz has not been able to travel to Colombia because the authorities of the coffee-growing country recommended that he not travel for security reasons.

The player’s mother was also rescued the same Saturday. However, hours later the authorities reported that they managed to rescue her.

More than 120 soldiers and police were deployed in northern Colombia on Sunday to locate the soccer player’s father, in an operation that authorities call “Operation Padlock.”

The Colombian Army reported in a statement that it established controls on the roads and deployed two motorized platoons, drones, helicopters and a radar plane for the search.
