Since last weekend, various Halloween parties have been held, one of the favorite celebrations for children and adults in both the United States and Mexico.

However, in states like Sinaloa where drug culture is present, the costumes of horrendous monsters, zombies or vampires were gradually replaced by masks of drug trafficking lords such as Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmánor striking clothing known as “buchona”.

That is why the authorities of that state implemented a strict prohibition against costumes that refer to drug traffickers, in order to avoid spreading a negative image of the entity.

According to the Sinaloa government, people will be fined if they clearly disguise themselves as criminalsuse plastic weapons or wear fake uniforms.

The “anti-narco disguises” operation was deployed since the weekend in 18 municipalities of the state, with the aim of preventing the population from promoting the apology of crime.

Decorations will also be sanctioned

According to the newspaper El Imparcial, fines and arrests also apply to those who decorate their homes with references to executions, or pretending to transport human bodies in their vehicles.

“We definitely cannot allow that, as it is part of the same situation that has prevailed for years. The state has been stigmatized for a long time, and that is why this prevention measure is being taken“commented the Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, Gerardo Mérida Sánchez.

In previous years, people have been observed dressed as “encobijados” (encobijados), Ovidio GuzmanEl Chapo and other characters linked to organized crime, which has generated concern in the community and authorities.

In 2022, the year these sanctions were also implemented, authorities arrested 47 people in Culiacán, Los Mochis and Mazatlán for wearing costumes related to drug traffickers. In addition, similar measures were taken against the owners of 40 vehicles who simulated kidnappings with fake people in their cars.
