34-year-old Hispanic man, victim of fatal wrong-way crash on the 10 Freeway in Los Angeles

A 34-year-old Hispanic man was the fatal victim of a wrong-way crash early Thursday, October 19, on the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles.

Esteban Jaramillo was traveling to work when a driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, was traveling in the wrong direction and crashed into his car, dying at the scene of the accident, east of Santa Fe Avenue.

Lourdes Jaramillo, Esteban’s wife for 11 yearsasked the authorities how the accident occurred and they told him that a guy was going in the wrong direction and killed him.

“My children will never see their father again, my children were waiting and he never came,” Lourdes Jaramillo expressed to the Telemundo network.

The accident occurred approximately at 4:30 am on Thursday, October 19when a Kia Stinger car traveling in the opposite direction crashed head-on into the vehicle driven by the Hispanic man.

Esteban Jaramillo was the main provider for his family’s economy, with his wife Lourdes and two children, ages 9 and 7.

“They don’t know the damage they do to good people, like him, who served God,” added Lourdes Jaramillo. She mentioned that Esteban was a man of faith, an active member of the Puerta del Cielo church and that he even had the desire to become a pastor.

Jaramillo said that all he wants is for justice to be donenot only for Esteban, but for all those who have lost loved ones in accidents.

California Highway Patrol He suspected that the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol while he was behind the wheel of the four-door Kia Stinger accompanied by two people, a 22-year-old woman and her own 5-year-old daughter. All three were injured.

The driver responsible was arrested on October 25, remains in the custody of the authorities and was established a bail of $2 million dollars.

The suspect has scheduled a court hearing this Monday, October 30.
