The Texas Rangers will bet on the experience of Max Scherzer from the mound and the Arizona Diamondbacks will do so on the talent of rookie Brandon Pfaadt to achieve victory in the third game of the World Series, which is tied 1-1.

The Texas team will hand the ball to an experienced Scherzer, who has 29 appearances in the postseason to his credit, 14 of them as a starter, accumulating a record of 7-8 and a percentage of earned runs allowed of 3.86 in 140 innings.

Scherzer pitched in the 2012 World Series with the Detroit Tigers and in 2019 with the Washington Nationals, with whom he was crowned champion in the 2019 ‘Fall Classic’.

At this point in the season, the 38-year-old right-hander has a 1-0 record and a 3.86 ERA, the result of the seven runs he has allowed in the 16.1 innings he has pitched, in which he has 18 strikeouts.

For its part, Pfaadt, 25 years old, is in his first experience in the playoffs, which is why he does not have the experience of his current rival, but the Diamondbacks right-hander has shown that he has the determination and fortitude to go out and compete in the postseason.

After his first start in the postseason, in which he only spent 2.2 innings on the mound, Pfaadt has given manager Torey Lovullo 14 two-run innings and 18 strikeouts in three appearancescarrying a 1.29 earned run percentage in the process.

In that process, Pfaadt took the mound twice against the powerful Phillies lineup, which in 9.2 innings struck out 16 batters and stepped on two at the plate, allowing the Diamondbacks to emerge victorious in both games.

Although he has failed to win any of his starts, Pfaadt has become the closest thing to a trump card for the Diamondbacks in the postseason, as they are 4-0 when the 25-year-old has started in the middle of the land.
