AEK Athens was the club that welcomed Orbelín Pineda with open arms. The former Cruz Azul player was able to stay in Europe after a discreet time in Spain. But he also plays in the club Rodolfo Pizarro, a Mexican who has not had the same fortune.
Orbelín Pineda is one of the main pieces of Matías Almeyda, an Argentine coach who has achieved great results at the club. However, the same cannot be said for Rodolfo Pizarro. “El Pelado” rescued the Mexican from Inter Miami, but has not given up on him on the field.
The former Chivas de Guadalajara soccer player had been stumbling in his career. Pizarro could not explode at Inter Miami and did not take advantage of his return to Liga MX. Greece appeared to him as a golden opportunity offered by Matías Almeyda, but his performance remains the same.
Since arriving in Europe, Pizarrín has played seven games: five in the Greek Super League and two in the qualifying phase of the UEFA Champions League. In all these meetings the Aztec has only been able to contribute an assistance. Pizarro has only been on the field for 331 minutes (the equivalent of almost four full games).

The consequences of Rodolfo Pizarro’s downturn
The 29-year-old Mexican midfielder was one of the most promising footballers in Liga MX. The Aztec managed to reach a market value that exceeded $10 million dollarsbut with its poor performances its token has been devalued.
Rodolfo Pizarro is currently valued at just over $3 million dollars. The value of the Mexican has decreased constantly over the years. Its highest value was in 2020.
The AEK Athens footballer has already not been called up to the Mexican national team for a year. Jaime Lozano has not counted on him in the calls. The last game the Azteca saw action dates back to 16 months ago.
