Dominican Ketel Marte continues to make history in the Major League postseason and this Friday he obtained a record that ties Manny Ramírez and Derek Jeter.
The Diamondbacks second baseman reached 17 consecutive games with at least one hit in postseason games. Only four players had at least one hit in 17 games: Manny Ramírez, Hank Bauer, Derek Jeter and now Ketel Marte.
Ketel Marte’s streak began in 2017 in the Arizona Diamondbacks Wild Card Game against the Colorado Rockies.
In 2017, Marte ended a four-game postseason hitting streak and had to wait six years to be in a playoff game again.
This year he has hit in 14 games. It began with the Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, then against the Los Angeles DodgersPhiladelphia Phillies and finally this Friday against the Texas Rangers.
Marte comes from being MVP of the Championship Series in the National League. The Diamondbacks player could be the hitter with the most consecutive games with a hit this Saturday if he gets a hit in the second game of the World Series.
Corey Seager and Adolis García sealed Game 1
Corey Seager hit a two-run homer that tied the game in the ninth inning and Cuban Adolis García In the eleventh inning, he resolved the first victory of the Texas Rangers, 6-5, over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opening of the World Series.
Cuban García completed five games in a row today, knocking the ball out of the park and eight home runs so far in the postseason.
The one from Ciego de Ávila finished the game with two RBIs and the American Seager scored three runs and created two more.
Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed six hits and five runs in 4.2 innings, striking out eight batters.
For the Diamondbacks Tommy Pham homered. Dominican Ketel Marte, who extended the number of games hitting for hits to 17 in the postseason, as well as Corbin Carroll drove in two runs each.
