“My heart is broken”: Owner of restaurant attacked by Robert Card in Maine speaks

The owner of a bar who was the target of a mass shooting in Maine on Wednesday spoke out on social media in the wake of the attack.

“My heart is broken”can be read in a statement issued by Schemengees Bar and Grille, located in Lewiston, and which was published in the early hours of Thursday morning on the place’s official Facebook page.

“I have no words. In a split second, your world turns upside down for no good reason. We lose great people in this community. How can we make any sense of this? Sending prayers to everyone,” the publication added.

The message quickly went viral and obtained hundreds of responses from users, who regretted the situation and sent their prayers for the victims of this tragic event.

According to the Schemengees website, the business is located in the southeast area of ​​Lewiston, near the Androscoggin River.

Intense search for suspect

In the minutes after the shooting at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation, outlets such as CNN, ABC News and Fox gave the first reports reporting 16 people dead, although it was later revealed that they were 22 fatalities, in addition to at least 50 other people who suffered injuries.

The Lewiston Police Department shared a statement on Facebook Wednesday night, detailing Robert Card as the person suspected in the shooting.
