Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Ambriz left his position as technical director of the Toluca, this was reported this Wednesday by the Red Devils, who currently occupy eighth position in the Liga MX Apertura tournament.

The eleventh choricara explained that the decision came after a meeting between the board and the Mexican strategistalthough the reasons why both parties decided to end their employment relationship were not revealed.

Toluca thanked Ambriz for “his dedication, commitment and professionalism” and I wish you “success in your future personal and professional projects.”

The career of Ignacio Ambriz

Nacho Ambriz arrived in Toluca in May 2022 and his greatest achievement in four tournaments was the runner-up in the Apertura tournament that year.when they lost the final against Pachuca, before leaving out the arch-favorite América.

In the Clausura 2023, Ambriz fell in the quarterfinals and in the current Apertura tournament he had the team among the teams that will play the repechage, with the possibility of rising to the top six places that will go directly to the phase of the best eight.

The Toluca board created a project around Ambriz and completed the signings that the Mexico City-born coach required. One of those signings was the Colombian center back Andrés Mosquera and the Chilean midfielder Jean Meneses, with whom he won his only title in Mexican soccer, the Apertura 2020 with León.

Lack of Ambriz titles with Toluca

Despite a good performance with the choricero team, Ambriz failed to give Toluca its first league title since 2010, which would mean the eleventh in his record.with which the team from the center of the country would have consolidated itself as the third most winning team in Mexico.

According to the local sports press, Ambriz is currently on the radar of the Costa Rica national teamAlthough the Mexican coach denied last September that he was in negotiations, we will have to wait and see how events develop.

The 58-year-old coach would be a great bet for the Costa Rican team, although nothing has been said yet, the only certain thing is that from today Ignacio Ambriz will no longer be the coach of Toluca.
