Nancy Pelosi, former speaker of the House of Representatives, supports the establishment of a “humanitarian pause” in the war conflict between the armed forces of Israel and the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip, without this representing a definitive ceasefire.

During an interview with the television channel MSNBC, The Democrat from Baltimore completely ruled out being in favor of ending Israeli military operations since they are aimed at ensuring that justice prevails in Gaza.

“I think the humanitarian pause is the way to go. What Hamas did was barbaric in Israel, it was outside the circle of civilized human behavior, and if it happened to your family, you would want justice. I’m not talking about revenge; I am saying justice,” she expressed.

Pelosi clarified that at this time there are no adequate conditions to request a definitive ceasefire although this is criticized by some parties immersed in the war conflict.

“So there has to be somewhere else to go instead of just saying ‘let’s have a ceasefire.’ We had a ceasefire in May that Hamas broke on October 7, so let’s remember thatbut there may be some votes in our group that do not support the package, but I think, in general, it will be overwhelmingly supported,” he indicated.

On the other hand, Summer Lee, Democrat of Pennsylvania, calls for a stop to ongoing military operationssince the lives of civilians who have nothing to do with the attacks carried out by Hamas in Israeli territory on October 7 continue to be put at risk.

“I hope and pray that when we emerge from this crisis, we can resoundingly say: yes, we did enough because we spoke through the noise and stood firm in our belief that all lives do matter,” he said during an event organized to advocate for raisins in the Middle East in which Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Ayanna also attended. Pressley, Democrat of Massachusetts, both support providing support to the Palestinian community forced to leave Gaza due to the chaos that has prevailed in the area since Israel began part of its offensive against Hamas members.
