Iowa teacher accused of abusing 13-year-old boy and sending obscene material to other minors

An Iowa teacher is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy and sending “obscene” materials to three minors via Snapchat, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said.

Cassidy Sue Krausa high school reading teacher, chose to resign from her job rather than face layoff at the IKM-Manning Community School District (CSD) in August.

He currently faces third-degree felony charges of sexual abuse and two counts of lewd acts with a child, plus three misdemeanor charges for allegedly spreading obscene materials to three different children via Snapchat during the 2022 and 2023 school years.

Kraus, 24, whose Facebook page says she is married, allegedly “knowingly disseminated obscene material” to Victim 1 between January 2022 and May 2022, and to Victims 2 and 3 between January 2023 and June 2023. .

According to the criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, Kraus is also accused of commit lewd acts against a 13 year old child in May 2022, by “caressing or touching” the victim, and causing “the person’s genitals to rub against any part of the child’s body.”

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the former teacher was arrested last Friday and released a day later after posting $10,000 bail, and is scheduled to return to court this Thursday.

While charges of disseminating obscene materials are classified as serious misdemeanors, lewd acts and third-degree sexual abuse charges are class C felonies, which typically punishable by no more than 10 years under Iowa lawif the defendant is a first-time offender, as is the case.
