Jeremy Renner was involved in a controversy over equal pay in Hollywood

In 2015, Jeremy Renner faced a controversy related to pay inequality in the entertainment industry, a widely debated issue. About a decade ago, Jennifer Lawrence, another prominent figure in the world of cinema, shared her unique experience in the film industry.

Through an essay, she denounced the notable salary disparities, especially in reference to her participation in “American Hustle” (2013), directed by David O. Russell, compared to the salaries of the male cast.

Bradley Cooper, who was also part of the film’s cast, publicly expressed his support for Jennifer Lawrence. In contrast, Jeremy Renner, a co-star, evaded this issue and consequently alienated his fans.

During an interview in 2015, Renner responded evasively when asked if she would support her female colleagues in their fight for equal pay. She argued: “That’s not my job. I don’t know about contracts, money or matters of that type. I am an artist and I understand human behavior. When it came to these issues, she let others deal with it. I focus on what I know how to do well.”
