This Wednesday, October 18, there will be Officer Chad Swanson’s funeral servicesof the Manhattan Beach Police Department (MBPD), who died on October 4 in a traffic accident.
In a statement, the MBPD reported that a funeral procession is scheduled for this Wednesday that will begin in Manhattan Beach, followed by a church service in Cypressto honor Swanson’s law enforcement career and life.
Services will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Manhattan Beach Police Department Headquarters. with the procession led by the Swanson familywho will be accompanied by MBPD officers and city officials, to begin the funeral procession.
In a statement, city officials invited community members to participate to wear red, white and blue along the route through which the column of officers who will escort Swanson’s remains will pass towards the religious service.

The funeral procession begins on Manhattan Beach Boulevard, between Ardmore Avenue and Aviation Boulevard, before heading toward SeaCoast Grace Church, 5100 Cerritos Avenue, Cypresswhere the religious ceremony will be held at 11:00 am
“In the midst of tragedy, let us remember that our strength lies in the unity that unites us as a community. As we honor the memory of Officer Chad Swanson, let us draw strength from our shared commitment to supporting and protecting one another,” said Mayor Richard Montgomery.
After the officer’s death, Manhattan Beach held a two-day vigil in his memory and hundreds of people gathered at the city dock.
MBPD Chief Rachel Johnson thanked the Manhattan Beach community for their continued support during the difficult period following the loss of the officer.
“His presence will provide comfort to Officer Swanson’s family and his fellow officers. “Together we can turn the pain of loss into a beacon of resilience, showing the world that, even in our darkest moments, our unity shines brighter than ever,” Johnson added.

On October 4, at approximately 5:15 am, Officer Chad Swanson died when a motorist hit his motorcycle and threw him to the groundon the 405 Freeway, in the Carson area.
Apparently, the accident was caused the driver of a car that was speeding in the northbound lanes when he allegedly collided with another car near Del Amo Boulevard.
Swanson was a survivor of mass shooting that occurred on October 1, 2017 at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegaswhere he risked his life to save other people despite being shot in the arm.
In the shooting, a co-worker at the MBPD who He also attended the music festival and died from a gunshot wound..
