The WEA part of the test will target citizens’ compatible mobile phones in which A test message will appear that will be displayed in English or Spanish, depending on the language setting of the cordless phone.
“THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. “No action is needed,” a text will indicate.
Regarding the EAS part, the alert test will consist of transmitting through the televisions a message where it will be mentioned that the exercise is just a test.
“This is a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System, issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, covering the United States from 2:20 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. ET. This is just a test. “No action is required from the public,” he will note.
Regarding radio equipment, the programming of radio stations will be interrupted and a similar announcement will be heard.
It should be noted that The EAS portion of the test is scheduled to last approximately one minute and in the case of mobile phones that are turned off or outside the coverage area, they cannot be part of the test.
This year, the EAS message will be disseminated as a Common Alert Protocol (CAP) message through the Integrated Public Alert and Alert System for Emergency Networks (IPAWS-OPEN) Open Platform.
