The sustainability It is an important part of current societies, businesses and activities. Sports do not escape this, much less when they generate carbon emissions through the use of fossil fuels, in addition to logistical trips that also leave their mark in that sense.
Therefore, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) works on various plans and projects to reduce greenhouse gases. One of those strategies has been to partner with Siemens, adopting the portfolio’s solutions Siemens Xcelerator that will support the organization’s efforts in all its championships, including the Formula 1.
This way, Siemens Xcelerator will allow the FIA greater vision and clarity when design vehicles and regulations that significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, as well as reducing energy consumption.
One more step towards sustainability
“Given that innovation and sustainability are two of the most important guiding principles of the FIA, we are pleased to welcome Siemens as an official supplier in the adoption of its sustainable software solutions for our work in Formula 1 and other motorsport activities,” he said. “Innovative collaborations like this underscore our commitment to becoming net zero carbon by 2030 and show how motorsport can be part of the solution to the challenges we face,” he continued.
However, the FIA details that this association is based on previous collaborations through previous projects that have served for the digital transformation of the highest governing body of world motorsport, where they have applied the Siemens strategies to improve urban mobility, safety, efficiency, affordability, accessibility and reliability.
The same way, Cedrik Neikemember of the board of directors of Siemens AG and executive director of Digital Industriesexpressed his opinion on the matter after joining the F1 in terms of sustainable progression.
“Motorsports and sustainability sound like a contradiction. But they can coexist using the right technologies. If motorsport achieves carbon neutrality, any industry can do so. With this collaboration, we plan to influence public perceptions and promote sustainable mobility. We are delighted to have been selected as an official supplier for help the FIA meet its sustainability objectives”he pointed out.
