President Joe Biden has received the updated Covid-19 vaccine and the annual flu shot, according to a memo from White House physician Kevin O’Connor released Saturday.

“As we enter cold and flu season, the President encourages all Americans to follow his lead and check with their healthcare provider or pharmacist to make sure they are fully vaccinated,” O’Connor wrote.

White House doctor Kevin O’Connor said that Biden, 80, received the vaccines simultaneously on Friday and explained that a few weeks ago he was also vaccinated against the human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which affected a significant portion of the American population last winter, especially children and the elderly.

Earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized an updated Covid vaccine adapted to new variants for everyone over 6 months old.

Besides, The CDC allows the simultaneous administration of the Covid vaccine and the annual flu vaccine, in an effort to make it easier for Americans to get vaccinated.

The RSV vaccine, which Biden also received, was authorized by the country’s health authorities in May and is recommended for individuals over 60 years of age, but it is recommended that it be administered separately from the flu and Covid-19 vaccines. .

At 80 years old, Biden is the oldest president in US history.

The president had Covid in July of last year. Additionally, earlier this month, first lady Jill Biden said she had tested positive for Covid-19, although she only had mild symptoms.

Covid-19 infections are on the rise in the United States, where Covid hospitalizations increased by 7.7% in the week of September 3 to 9, according to the latest available data, and deaths increased by 4.5% on those same dates. .

In any case, it is difficult to know how many cases there are currently in the United States because many states have stopped counting them.
