He Zurdo Ramirez will return to the ring in the coming days to try to surpass the page of his defeat against Dmitry Bivol. Although it has been almost a year since he lost his undefeated record, the Mexican He still remembers his trip over the cards.
In November 2022, Gilberto Ramírez sought to hit the table and defeat one of Canelo Álvarez’s executioners. However, the Etihad Arena witnessed a new victory for Bivol on scorecards. Thus, The Mexican lost his undefeated record in professional boxing and the WBA light heavyweight belt. Almost a year has passed since that fight and Zurdo still has bitter memories.
“Dealing with the loss of Bivol was really difficult. He hurt my soul and hurt my ego as a warrior. Now that I’ve been able to overcome it, I want to come back even stronger and I want to win. I want, I feel like I can do it“said the Mexican boxer in a training session that took place at the Brickhouse Boxing Club.
Gilberto Ramírez motivated to return
The best way to overcome that setback is to return to victory. Zurdo Ramírez will debut at cruiserweight against Joe “Common Man” Smith Jr. in a duel scheduled for 12 rounds and that will take place at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The fight is scheduled for this October 7th.
“I am excited for my team and I to return on October 7th to Las Vegas. What excites me most is that some of the best shows happen in Las Vegas(…) I feel very good at cruiserweight, This is typically the weight I have walked around with my entire life. I feel much stronger in this class and, most importantly, I feel healthy“said the Mexican.
Zurdo Ramírez acknowledged that he follows his opponent’s career. Joe Smith Jr. is a former world light heavyweight champion that comes from falling by knockout against Artur Beterbiev in just two rounds.
“I have been watching Joe Smith Jr. for many years; probably his entire career. He is a great fighter and It’s exciting for me to face him because he is a former world champion, “He has faced many former champions and great opponents,” he concluded.
