Andy Ruiz still looking for an opponent to return to action after a year of absence on the ring. For this reason, the Mexican-American challenged Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder again, but assured that “no one wants to fight.”
In a video published on his Instagram account, Ruiz indicated that he has kept working in the gym and that he is ready to do the trilogy with Joshua or to face Wilder once and for all if he offers you another contract.
“Everyone asks when am I going to fight? When am I going to fight? Why don’t I fight Wilder? Nobody wants to fight. I’m ready, honey. Tell Joshua let’s do the trilogy. Tell Wilder I’m ready. Make me another contract. Usyk, Tyson Fury, they all want to take shortcuts. But I’m here, honey, we’re working,” he said.
It should be noted that Andy Ruiz has been in talks with some rivals, but the Mexican’s financial demands have frustrated the negotiations. At the beginning of the year he challenged Tyson Fury, but the World Boxing Council (WBC) champion rejected the fight because The Destroyer He asked for $20 million dollars to get into the ring and challenge him for the titlean amount that seemed absurd to The Gipsy King.
Then the Mexican-American entered into talks to face Deontay Wilder, a fight that would decide Fury’s mandatory challenger, but a disagreement between the parties in the distribution of the purse -Ruiz wanted 50% of the profits ($10 million dollars) – ended the talks and the WBC canceled the tie.
“I just want a fair offer. I don’t want to be looked down upon. Everyone tries to downplay Mexicans. Not this time,” declared Andy Ruiz about the collapse of negotiations with Wilder in an interview with Make A Move.
As the fight with The Destroyer fell through, Wilder began negotiating a fight with Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia in early 2024. but they have not been able to reach an agreement either. For this reason, promoter Eddie Hearn indicated that the trilogy with Ruiz could be carried out if he did not face The Bronze Bomber.
For now, the Mexican-American will have to wait for Tyson Fury to face Francis Ngannou, and if Deontay Wilder and Joshua finally reach an agreement, otherwise, could have a chance to face The Bronze Bomber.
Andy Ruiz, 33, has not had action since he defeated Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz by unanimous decision in September 2022. The Mexican American He has a record of 35 victories, 22 of them by knockout, and 2 losses as a professional.
