Ana Guevara, director of the National Sports Commission (Conade), criticized Mexican athletes who have received harsh criticism against her after the implementation of her austerity policy.

During an interview with Hugo Sánche for ESPN, Guevara explained that the previous directors of Conade They had many considerations for the athletes and “rude” them by giving them considerable financial support for representing the country in different competitions.

“I am not a charity entity, I am the government entity, and the entity is regulated, and it is not that I have the money in a box to disperse it and whoever arrives will give it. Unfortunately, to keep their mouths shut, they filled their mouths with money and rudely treated them,” Guevara explained.

Ana Guevara pointed out that she is calm with what she has done in her administration because she solved the problems that she had encountered in previous administrations in the National Sports Commission.

“I have asked you to be calm, it is an administration that came to revolutionize part of the scaffolding and of the administrative process, they are not decisions that I make in a personal capacity, many things were modified,” added the official, who made clear the position that sports scholarships are only support, not a salary, and that they are subject to obtaining certain results.
