Dangerous child sex offender escaped from Missouri hospital

The police reported that a dangerous convicted child sex offender escaped on foot from a St. Louis County, Missouri, hospitalearly Thursday morning.

Tommy Wayne Boyd, 45, prisoner at the Potosí Correctional Centerwas last seen around 3:45 a.m. Thursday by staff at Mercy Hospital South, the St. Louis County Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Officers from the Affton Southwest District were alerted around 4:30 a.m. that the offender had fled the building. Boyd was guarded by two Missouri Department of Corrections officers when he escaped, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement.

“There was no physical confrontation, no one was injured and surveillance cameras show the fugitive leaving the hospital. Although there is no evidence that he is still on the hospital campus, to ensure everyone’s safety, we are conducting a full search of all of our buildings,” a statement stated.

A photo released by police showed Boyd walking down a hospital hallway wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket, shorts and orange slippers. Police described him as a white man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with bald hair and a beard.

Police said he was “traveling in an unknown direction.”

“It should be considered dangerous. It is unknown if he is armed. “Anyone who sees Boyd should call 911 immediately,” police said.

Boyd He is serving a 30-year sentence for legal sodomy.a term that applies to certain sexual crimes involving minors under the age of 14, according to Missouri state law.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, which maintains the state’s sex offender registry, said Boyd committed first-degree sodomy in October 1996, when the victim was 11 and he was 18.

Boyd was transported to the hospital Wednesday for treatment.the police said.

Boyd’s escape comes on the heels of several cases in recent months of inmates escaping custody while receiving hospital treatment.

Earlier this month, New York City officials located and returned to custody an escaped inmate, Yenchun Chen, 44, who was arrested in late July for possession of a controlled substance.

In Philadelphia, Danielo Cavalcante evaded Pennsylvania authorities for two weeks before being captured.

While in Washington, DC, authorities are still searching for a murder suspect who has remained at large for weeks.

The suspect, Christopher Haynes, escaped from George Washington University Hospital custody on the afternoon of September 6, the Metropolitan Police Department said. Police announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to Haynes’ arrest the next day.
