Broward County deputies responded to a Deerfield Beach school after they said A student tried to stab a teacher with scissors at the Bright Horizons Center school, in the Florida city of Deerfield.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that a juvenile student slashed a teacher with an object,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carey Codd.
Broward Sheriff’s Fire Department Medics teacher was taken to Broward Health North with injuries that were “not expected to be life-threatening”Codd said.
Codd said staff members detained the 14-year-old boy and officers later arrested him on a charge of attempted murder. Authorities said he was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
The incident took place when a boy whose identity was not disclosed armed with scissors, he chased a teacher in a classroom and caught up with her in a center hallway, where he suffered several wounds and cuts, one of them in his ear.
Members of the school staff detained the teenager on campus and, shortly after, doctors provided medical care to the teacher, who had to be transferred for treatment to the Broward Health North hospital.

Bright Horizons Center is listed as a K-12 magnet school that serves students with disabilities who require intense support, according to Broward County Public Schools.
“It is very worrying, it is a violent and serious attack” on a teacher by a student who had already committed an act of violence against another teacher in 2022, said the president of the Broward Teachers Union, Anna Fusco.
