Miguel Layun He has been one of the players who has received the most criticism from fans of the America club to the point of being plunged into a severe depression that harmed him personally and professionally.
This was revealed by the defender in a recent interview with the content creator Trava Bear and his ‘Cracks Podcast’. Layun He confessed that the excessive criticism, comments and insults from the fans affected him for a long time and even extended to his family.
“Layún, get the f**k out of here. Because of you we didn’t win. It’s just that you’re salty, it’s your fault. Arriving at a shopping center and having my family receive insults. My mother sometimes wore my shirt to the stadium and had things thrown at her. In other words, it began to go beyond the ‘funny-sports’ theme until it reached a personal level in which I fell into depression,” began the Águilas del América side.
The ravages of reproaches from fans emotionally affected Layun and influenced their sporting performance. “I didn’t want to leave my house and I cried every now and then. It was very difficult for me to go to training and many people told me ‘don’t listen to them, leave it aside’.”
However, in an act of rebellion, Layun found in the reviews a “dark motivation” and the fuel necessary to face this scenario. Far from turning a deaf ear to the questions and mistreatment, the footballer used it as motivation.
“I found in all of that a perhaps personal defense mechanism, a fuel as strong as going in search of a dream, which was to demonstrate to those who said that I couldn’t do something, that I worked until I achieved it.”said.
“I played a changing profile, on the left wing and I am right footed. So of course, normally my crosses with the left leg, well, they weren’t the best in the world. TRUE? He made many mistakes. People said he didn’t know how to center. I don’t know how to focus? I stayed every day to center 20 or 30 balls with my left leg until I started making assists,” he confessed.
How did you overcome ‘It’s all Layún’s fault’?
In a match of Cup Tournament in 2013 against Veracruz Red Sharks, Layun began to be booed after the Águilas conceded a goal and this heated things up to the point that Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera He insulted him in the locker room.
The scolding “set a man on fire” Layun who came out in the second half to use anger as an incentive. He scored a goal and returned the provocation to the fans by celebrating him. “I realized that there is that dark motivation that culturally they have wanted to take away from us for the simple fact of remaining submissive to certain things. “They have taught us that we have to bow our heads.”
In this last 2023 Apertura Tournament of the MX League under the orders of André Garden, Layun He is once again being harshly pointed out and on some occasions he has even responded on his social networks.
