In the last two seasons of the Big leagues Various investigations and sanctions have emerged for multiple cases of domestic violence. The last to be known publicly is that of the Mexican pitcher Julio UríasHowever, he has not been the only Major League Baseball player to be investigated for a similar case.

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN.

Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond.

In 2015, the Major Leagues together with the Association of Players They reached an agreement to create the domestic violence policy, which would allow the investigation of this type of cases and if the player is guilty, a sanction is granted. Since then several players have had reprimands.

One of the conditions for this policy to be activated is when a player is arrested or there is some type of complaint against him and the player automatically falls on the restricted list.

Before the cases were opened Wander Franco and Julio Urías This season, Major League Baseball has opened a total of 19 investigations and penalized 17 of them.

Which players have been penalized and how many games were suspended?

  • Aroldis Chapman (2016): 30 games
  • Hector Olivera (2016) 82 games
  • José Reyes (2016): 51 games
  • Jeurys Family (2016): 15 games
  • Yasiel Puig (2016): without suspension
  • Derek Norris (2017): all season
  • José Torres (2018) 100 games
  • Roberto Osuna (2018): 75 games
  • Addison Russell (2018): 40 games
  • Steven Wright (2018): 15 games
  • Miguel Sanó (2018): without suspension
  • Odubel Herrera (2019): all season
  • Julio Urías (2019, first case): 20 games
  • Domingo Germán (2020): 81 games
  • Sam Dyson (2021): 162 games
  • Marcell Ozuna (2021): 20 games
  • Trevor Bauer (2022): 324 games
  • Carlos Martinez (2022): 85 games
  • Jimmy Cordero (2023): 76 games

If the Dominican Wander Franco and the Mexican Julio Urías are found guilty, the number of sanctions will increase and it is very unlikely that both will play in the MLB again.

An important fact is that the Mexican pitcher is the first player to violate the domestic violence code twice.
