The Rayados de Monterrey want to hit hard in the MX League and be crowned champions again and the hiring of Sergio Canales is proof of this. The Spanish midfielder, who left La Liga for Liga MX, has already begun to make a quick return on the investment.

The Rayados were left with the 1-2 away victory in their visit to the Akron Stadium last Sunday against Chivas de Guadalajara. Both goals were the work of Sergio Canales.

When barely 9 minutes into the first half, an association move in front of Miguel ‘Wacho’ Jiménez’s goal was counted as a goal with a low and well-placed shot from the new ’10’ from Monterrey.

Also during the first half, a handball by Christian Calderón was sentenced as a penalty by the match’s main referee. With a lot of seniority, it was the foreign player who stopped from 12 steps to define in a great way the visiting advantage 0-2.

The discount for the locals, and after several frustrating attempts, reached 66′ through Ricardo Marín with a header from the center of the six-yard box thanks to an assist from Calderón, who was redeemed after causing an unnecessary penalty.

According to the statistics, Canales completed 46 passes and had an average of 10.36 offensive duels won, 1.32 shots on target and 2.82 successful dribbles.
