Shane Mosley, former three-division world champion, gave his opinion on the possible confrontation between Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and Terence Crawford for the undisputed super middleweight championship and indicated that the Mexican is too big for Bud.

In an interview with The Art Of Dialogue, Mosley expressed that size in boxing matters and by moving up to 168 pounds to fight Canelo Álvarez feel the power differenceso he doesn’t think Crawford has any chance of beating the man from Guadalajara.

“Crawford is going to have to box. Crawford is a boxer, he can box, but he is a fighter who wants to fight and punch like me. He goes, ‘Oh, you hit me. I’ll hit you back. Do you think you did something? It’s competition, and I think Canelo it’s too big for that to happen now size wise. Yes I have Canelo (beating Crawford). It’s too big,” he said.

“I think he’s biting off more than he can chew because Canelo is a big guy. The size of the boxing ring matters. I know this because when I got to 154 pounds, I wasn’t actually 154 pounds. I’ve won some titles and I’ve knocked out some people, but I actually knew he wasn’t a 154-pound fighter,” Shane Mosley stated.

It should be noted that for this duel the undisputed welterweight champion would have to climb three divisions (21 pounds), situation that could put him totally at a disadvantage against a bigger fighter like the mexican

After knocking out Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford assured that intends to win his third undisputed championship against Canelo Álvarez in what he considers to be the greatest fight in boxing history. This challenge in the first instance was rejected by the Guadalajara because he assured that they would not give him credit for doing it, but the Mexican changed his mind and left open the possibility that this duel could happen if it makes sense to do so.

“In boxing, you never know. I’ve been up and down, and fought everyone that was there, so it’s possible (a fight with Crawford), why not? It’s possible. In case that fight makes sense, I’m up for it. It doesn’t matter who’s there I will be willing to fight with everyone”, declared Canelo Álvarez in an interview with Manouk Akopyan from BoxingScene.

Bud, what He went down in history for being undisputed in two weight classes, now he has 40 victories, 31 of them by knockouts.

For his part, Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez, 33, defeated John Ryder by unanimous decision of the judges last May in Mexico after 12 years of absence in his land. The boxer from Guadalajara has a record of 59 wins (39 by knockout) and two losses in his career.
