Background of Julio Urías

This is not the first time that Julio Urías has been arrested on charges of violence during his Major League Baseball career.

The Mexican pitcher was arrested in 2019 after arguing with a woman in the parking lot of a shopping center. Witnesses alleged the discussion, although the woman explained to the authorities that nothing had happened.

The TMZ chain reported that Urías pushed the woman against a vehicle and left her on the ground of the Beverly Center shopping center in the city of Los Angeles.

Due to the video from the mall, Urías was taken to prison where he spent the night and had to post $20,000 bail.

Due to that assault case, Urías received a 20-game suspension in 2019 for having violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

On this occasion, the sanction may be greater because Urías is a repeat offender in these cases. The Mexican pitcher could miss the rest of the regular season and the postseason in 2023 with the Dodgers.
