Gil Brandt, talent scout who built the Dallas Cowboys champions of Super Bowls VI and XII in the 1970s, He passed away this Thursday at the age of 91., as reported by the EFE agency. In this way, he leaves a legacy that today becomes eternal and an example to follow for sport in general.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Gil Brandt, a true icon and pioneer of our sport. Gil was at the center of the early success of the Dallas Cowboys and continued to serve as a great ambassador for the organization for decades.Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wrote in a message.

Gil Brandt’s career

It should be noted that Gil Brandt only played football as a student, at his high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.. Brandt became a legend thanks to his work as a talent selector that led him to become vice president of player personnel for the Cowboys.

In 1958, Brandt got his first chance as a selector with the San Francisco 49ers. before moving to Dallas, a team he worked for from its founding in 1960 until 1989when Jerry Jones bought the franchise and led a new task force.

Along with coach and general manager Tex Schramm, Brandt was instrumental in building the Cowboys to greatness. which led them to be recognized as ‘America’s Team’.
