Mourning NFL: Hall of Famer Maxie Baughan Passes Away at 85 of Natural Causes

The world of nfl mourns the physical departure of Maxie Baughan, Hall of Famer who excelled in his professional career as a player and coach. The nine-time Pro Bowl selection of the nfldied at the age of 85 last Saturday of natural causes at his home in Ithaca, New York and in the company of his loved ones, as confirmed by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Baughan was born in 1938 in forklands, Alabama. His trajectory began in Georgia Tech as linebacker and center. In 1960 he was selected in the second round by the franchise of Philadelphiaranked 20th. The legendary player became champion in his first season as a rookie, earning his first selection at pro bowl.

In addition to defending the colors of the eagles for six seasons, Maxie also played with rams of The Angels between 1966 and 1970. As a player he was active for 15 seasons. His retirement transition occurred gradually, as he began as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech in the 1972-1973 campaign.

Later, the following year, he served as a player-coach with the redskins of Washington in 1974. His rise as an assistant strategist at the nfl I would continue with teams like Baltimore, Detroit, Minnesota and Tampa Bay.

In 1984 he managed to become a coach at Cornell and guided the team to be co-champion of the ivy league in 1988, the first title for the institution since 1971. Baughan was chosen as one of the 12 semifinalists for the Hall of Fame of the senior category last month, although in 1965 he was honored by Georgia Tech and to the ones Philadelphia Eagles in 2015.
