Just when the Government of Mexico presents new arguments to admit its lawsuit against US gun shops, and is asked to pay a million-dollar compensation for the damage caused by firearms, two sisters from Arizona were arrested while trying to cross an armory.

According to the newspaper Milenio, it was in the vehicle inspection area at Gate 3, located at the Nogales, Sonora International Bridge, where Customs personnel observed a truck from the United States that was traveling at a speed not allowed within the compound, which entered through the “nothing to declare” lane.

According to the Mexican media, the unit manned by the two women received the green light at the Fiscal Stoplight, that is, it was exempt from customs inspection. The authorities called a stop to them in order to rule out the transport of undeclared merchandise, but they ignored it.However, they later stopped the march.

The women were traveling in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban truck with Sonora license plates, when the staff of the Number 3 Checkpoint intercepted them and requested the presence of the National Guard, a unit that together with the National Customs Agency (ANAM) managed to arrest the 25 and 28-year-old sisters.

The weapons were distributed in various parts of the truckconsisted of eight long weapons and one short, as well as 20 boxes with 400 useful cartridges and 35 chargers for firearm cartridges of different calibers, among other belongings and accessories, such as a butt and firearm holster.

It should be noted that, in the course of 2023, several women from the US have been detained while trying to bring weapons into Mexican territory. In one of the cases, the detainee tried to transfer 40 firearms from Texas to Tamaulipas, including AK-47 rifles, known as “cuerno de chivo”.
