The violence in the Mexican state of Michoacán seems to have no brakes, because while the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) seeks to completely control the entity, other groups such as The Michoacan Family and The Knights Templar they are struggling to hold on to a territory they have dominated for several years.

This has turned several municipalities in the state into a true war zone, where confrontations, kidnappings and executions are situations that are experienced every day.

One of the most recent violent events occurred in the town of Zinapécuaro, where two rival armed groups clashed for around four hours and left four gunmen dead, according to state police.

This shooting spread to the roads connecting other municipalities, where the hitmen set fire to at least six vehicles and scattered metal artifacts known as “tire strikers” to hinder the advance of police and soldiers.

According to the EFE news agency, the wave of violence caused dozens of passenger and cargo bus departures to be suspended for several hours.

Once elements of the Civil Guard and the Mexican Army arrived in the conflict zone, they deployed an operation in the mountainous region and They discovered a drug camp where the bodies of four men were who apparently participated in the clashes.

In that place, the authorities also captured two gunmen, who confiscated ten vehicles with bullet holes, 5 grenades and various chargers and cartridges for assault rifles.

It should be noted that the state of Michoacán is a region that for years has suffered from the war between cartels over the dispute over the production and trafficking of drugs, in addition to activities such as extortion of merchants, kidnapping and theft of trucking cargo.
