Ashley Moody, Florida Attorney General, announced that sent a letter to Congress requesting that the salary received by Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, be stopped because he is not doing his duty by allowing immigration laws to be disregarded at the border.

“His title sums up his responsibility – to secure our homeland – and he has done the opposite on purpose. I call on Congress to reduce his salary to zero until he fulfills his oath to the American people.”said the official in a statement.

Likewise, Moody noted that both President Joe Biden and Mayorkas have “willfully and intentionally ignored the clear demands of United States immigration law.”

In this sense, maintains that the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, has “mocked the order of Congress to the detriment of the voters and the nation”.

“Instead of detaining criminal aliens and illegal border crossers as required by law, Secretary Mayorkas has released millions of these aliens,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, when questioned in court about these releases, the official blamed Congress for not allocating sufficient funds for the detention centers to carry out their task as they should.

Thus, Moody’s is also asking Congress to allocate additional resources to strengthen border security through state cooperation programs.

Finally, it reiterates that the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security must fulfill the duty that his position demands.

“Regardless of whether you agree with the current immigration laws, they are the law of the land and Secretary Mayorkas is sworn to abide by them.. Congress, more than any other branch of government, is in a unique position to uphold the duly enacted laws of this country when the Executive Branch chooses to ignore them,” he emphasized.

It should be noted that since July 1 in Florida an immigration law promoted by Governor Ron DeSantis came into operation through which it is intended to eradicate illegal immigration.
