As part of the fight against organized crime in Mexico, the authorities dealt a heavy blow in the north of the country, seizing a shipment of 224 kilos of pure cocaine It was hidden in a tractor-trailer.

This was reported by the delegate of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in Sonora, Francisco Sergio Méndez, noting that the confiscation was achieved in a stretch of highway in the municipality of Ímuris, where agents of the National Guard called a halt to a truck carrying steel plates.

According to the official, one of the headbands that held the plates was loose, so the agents intercepted the unit to ask the driver to secure the load, but when they checked they saw that the last plate was welded, they lifted it and they found 224 kilos of pure cocaine.

The delegate stressed that the 224 kilos of cocaine would represent millions of dollars and millions of doses that were avoided so as not to poison more people. Also, he explained that the vehicle left Coahuila and was destined for the city of Tijuana, Baja Californiato later be transferred to the US.

Finally, he indicated that personnel from the Organized Crime Specialized Prosecutor’s Office participate in the investigation to determine which criminal group the shipment belonged to.

Another shipment was hidden in train cars

In another event also recorded in the state of Sonora, members of the Mexican Army seized 138 kilos of methamphetamine and five kilos of cocaine.

According to information compiled by the newspaper Milenio, military intelligence sources learned of a possible drug transfer that would take place aboard train cars.

Given this information, Army personnel with the support of dogs trained to detect drugs inspected train cars from the state of Sinaloa bound for the United States, managing to detect the narcotics.
