The Mexico team defeated Jamaica 3-0 in the Gold Cup semifinal in which Luis Chávez He was selected as Most Valuable Player after a great game and a great goal from a free kick.

With this great goal, Chávez set a record for El Tri and for a Concacaf team. Luis Chávez is the first player in Concacaf history to score a direct free kick in a World Cup (against Saudi Arabia in 2022) and in the Gold Cup (against Jamaica in 2023), as reported by Mister Chip.

The Mexican left-hander converted the great goal after nailing the ball into the top corner and increasing the advantage for the Mexican team after the goal by striker Henry Martín.

A win that leads to the final

The Mexican team thrashed Jamaica 0-3 on Wednesday to qualify for the final of the Concacaf Gold Cupin which he will face Panama next Sunday in Los Angeles.

With 25 minutes to go, the Jamaicans organized themselves better, stepped into the area and tried to take advantage of Mexico giving them the ball.

Mexico was close to extending the lead in minute 77 with a shot by Santiago Giménez, cleared by Dexter Lembikisa. The Mexicans made it 0-3 on 93, with a touch from Alvarado’s right leg, after a pass from Gallardo.

On Sunday, in Los Angeles, Mexico will play the final against Panama, that eliminated the United States in a series of penalties.
