During a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee attended by Christopher Wray, director of the FBI, to answer about the investigations he is carrying out into cases of alleged extortion and tax evasion involving Hunter Biden, son of the president Rep. Matt Gaetz questioned his ability.
First of all, The Republican politician said he was deeply concerned about the investigation being carried out into the Biden family, because presumably the performance of the FBI does not correspond to that carried out regularly in cases where there are indications of extortion, influence peddling and abuse of power.
And to support his hypothesis, he first read a message from Hunter Biden sent to a Chinese business partner via WhatsApp where he demanded money.on July 30, 2017.
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director I’d like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand. And now means tonight. You will regret not following my instructions. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father”, indicates the text.
Immediately afterwards, Gaetz began to demand concrete answers from Christopher Wray regarding the degree of impartiality that can be in the investigative work carried out by the FBI.
“Sounds like extortion, doesn’t it, director?” Gaetz questioned. However, Wray remained silent.
This attitude led the Florida Republican to attack with more direct accusations.
“Are you protecting the Bidens?” he asked.
And this time without waiting a single second, the responsible FBI official dismissed the question.
“Absolutely not,” he said.
However, Matt Gaetz continued with his accusations trying to corner the official.
“You will not answer the question of whether or not it is extortion, and everyone knows why you don’t answer it. Because for the millions of people who will see this, they know it is, and your inability to recognize it is profoundly revealing about you,” she emphasized.
Later, finding no clear answers from Wray, manager Matt Gaetz simply focused on tearing him apart.
“The FBI is so bad that people can go and participate in inquiries that when you go before Congress to answer questions, you are blissfully ignorant. You are blissfully ignorant of the illegal inquiries, you are blissfully ignorant of the Biden extortion regime.”he concluded.
