‘El Gordo y La Flaca’ turns 25 in 2023 and the production has celebrated it in a big way, remembering some of the most emblematic moments in the history of the show and for July 4 they prepared something very special, when they remembered the beginning of his success story.
It was on September 21, 1998 when the Univision afternoon show was broadcast for the first time at three in the afternoon. And they did it in the middle of one of the most important historical moments in the recent history of the United States, since that same day then-President Bill Clinton gave a message to the nation to explain his actions in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
In the video you can see Lili Estefan and Raúl de Molina much younger, although yes, ‘El Gordo’ since that year already claimed that he did exercise routines three times a week, to which ‘La Flaca’ replied: “Raúl, everyone here knows that you just do your neck.”
That same day they also had their first guest, although she was not present in the studio. It was the actress Laura Zapatawho was linked via satellite from Mexico City, while in their second episode they were able to interview a very young Enrique Iglesias in the same way and days later they captured Luis Miguel, being fined in the city of Los Angeles, together with his then girlfriend, Daisy Fuentes.
