The growth of soccer in the United States has greatly impressed one of the greatest soccer players in history, legendary Brazilian winger Roberto Carlos, who came to visit Los Angeles this week.

Roberto Carlos was one of several soccer legends present at the mega game between LA Galaxy and LAFC on Independence Day and when meeting with reporters and stating that there is “nothing better than being in a country where they love soccer and they love Real Madrid ”, he commented on the constant development of soccer in the United States.

“I think that football here has had an incredible evolution and this year they are also signing great players, it means that they want to grow both at the club level and at the national team level”said Roberto Carlos.

“Congratulations to the organization for signing well and for believing that they can be like Brazil one day and be world champions. Nothing better than playing World Cups and showing the world the power that this country has, ”added the man who turned 50 a few months ago and whose half of his life was a professional footballer until he said goodbye in 2016.

The world champion with Brazil in 2002 spoke on a terrace of the Rose Bowl, the stadium where the verdeamarela team became four-time champions by winning the 1994 World Cup.

“Having played here… and here has been the beginning of my sports career. I was not in 94 with the national team of my country because I was very young and I could not play, but I saw the Brazilian team here be world champion…”, recalled the man with the golden left foot.

Roberto Carlos did not want to refer to the case of Lionel Messi in the MLS

When asked by La Opinión about Lionel Messi’s imminent arrival in the United States with Inter Miami, Roberto Carlos preferred to be reserved and speak in general.

“All the players that the clubs are signing are players of a very high level, and that makes MLS grow more each year and look for its great players in great clubs,” he said after rejecting the notion that the league is a destination for the Retirement of outstanding footballers.

“When I went to Turkey, people thought the same. Here there is football and soccer with a lot of quality. That people do not think that there are players here who are retiring because there is a lot of enthusiasm and even more today that the players reach the age of 40 [años] playing at a good level”, he commented.

Real Madrid will play in the Rose Bowl on July 23 against AC Milan, in one of several matches on the European major club tour in Southern California. “And as we have many Real Madrid fans, we are delighted to be here”, concluded the legendary Roberto Carlos.
