Canelo Alvarez announced through his social networks that his next fight will be against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 30. In this fight, the man from Guadalajara will expose all his super middleweight titles. It should be remembered that Jermell Charlo is super welterweight champion and will go up two divisions to face the Mexican.

Canelo Álvarez’s rival comes from defeating Argentine Brian Castaño in May 2022 and is the brother of Jermall Charlo, current middleweight champion, who was originally expected to be the Mexican champion’s opponent for this bout.

Canelo comes from triumphing in his last fight against John Ryder on his return to Guadalajara, in a fight in which despite coming out victorious, he was highly criticized for failing to knock out the boxer at home.

The announcement is accompanied by the news of the UFC in which it will make a billboard on the occasion of Mexican Independence Day and that will have as its main course the rematch fight between the champion Alexa Grasso against the Kyrgyzstani Valentina Shevchenko from the T-Mobile Arena. For this reason, the Canelo fight was forced to be moved on the date.

This way fans are left waiting for a fight against David Benavidez or the rematch against the Russian Dmitry Bivol. Canelo ends up specifying what was already an open secret and will seek to keep his titles against a tough rival who has been highly criticized by a sector of the press despite being the undisputed champion in his division.
